    Hi

What great tips! My niche found me and I implement all the ideas you suggested. Helen

  3. Glad you found the tips useful, Helen. That’s how it happens to lucky coaches – their niche finds them 🙂 – and the “luckier” coaches know right away what niche they want to pursue. I definitely belong in the “lucky coaches” category. My true niche found me about 2 years after I started coaching (about 7 years ago).

  4. Yes, these are probably the 4 most important criteria for picking a niche. When I started out I wanted to help artists because I used to be one, but I soon found that they don’t spend money on coaching. So I had to redecide on a niche. I think I used all of these 4 tips to pick one. I think it’s important that’s it’s a niche that you not only are good with and enjoy, but also feel a strong connection to. Some coaches even say that your ideal client is a lot like you. Thanks for sharing, E.G.

And, yes, I agree that we connect most with people who are just like us – or people who are on the same path as us, but perhaps not experiencing yet the success level that we do… or do not posses the knowledge that we do…

Of course, in life coaching, at times we are not limited to coaching only based on what we know. Many hire a coach to have someone hold them accountable for things they already know how to do, but for some reason are not doing them… Even with these clients, it’s much easier to work with someone who we “connect” with – and this connection often happens due to many factors, one important one being our personality styles. There are some freebie info on this at http://www.egSebastian.com – the People Reading Guide and the 7-Part eCourse. I think every coach should have a basic understanding of the four main personality styles: recognizing and understanding one’s own style, learn to recognize them and how to communicate most effectively with each style…
